Re: Flood Alert testing
September 9, 2008 by wisecat
I believe the flood warning sirens are tested about twice a year. Flood defences in this area have improved a lot since the really bad flooding in 1953. The last time there was any extensive flooding was in 1978.
The main risk is from tidal flooding to the coast between Hunstanton and Snettisham, and also to some parts of the town itself, such as Hillington Square, Queen Street, Nelson Street, the car park behind the Corn Exchange.
Also parts of South Lynn are at risk, including Ouse Avenue, Wisbech Road and Saddlebow Road.
You might find this link interesting, which describes what could happen to Lynn during a major flood alert: http://www.floodlondon.com/editors.htm
Re: Welcome Message to New Members

Hi John. This Forum is still very new, but hopefully it will get a lot more active once we recruit a few more members!
There's a lot been going on in the town since you left, with the new Vancouver Quarter opening, lots of new housing being developed in South Lynn, and lots of alterations to The Walks being made. Thats just to name a few.
If you have any specific questions regarding Lynn, we will do our best to answer them.
